Frequently asked questions
Can you share any details about your upcoming book?
Of course! My wildly delicious debut novel, the YA thriller Killing Sadie, will be published August 4th, 2026! The book will be released with Simon & Schuster Pulse. Be sure to sign up for my newsletter to get all the latest details.
Where can I preorder the Killing Sadie book?
You can preorder a limited edition copy of Killing Sadie today from your favorite bookseller while supplies last … after all, Summer is hotter with sprayed edges and glossy type.
What is your writing process?
I’m a creature of habit, and writing is no different! Instead of waiting for inspiration to strike, I open the laptop and jump in – airports, the kitchen table, anywhere! When I’m actively working on a project, I write 5-6 days a week. As my editor can attest, speed is my friend when writing, so I tend to “just go”, and I rarely revisit my work until the book is complete and I enter the editing phase. This forces me to trust my intuition, avoid overthinking and let the story unfold. And while I always start with a general idea and clear characters, I’m not one to work off of outlines. I love letting my characters surprise me!
What do you do to unwind?
I’m an avid equestrian, so if I’m not writing or reading, you’ll often find me at the barn training with my young horse! A few of my other favorite ways to spend downtime include hiking with my husband, playing with our dog (yes, following me on Instagram will guarantee ample pup photos), cooking up a storm in the kitchen with a glass of wine in hand, and spending time at local coffee and book shops. I’m also a huge ‘80s pop culture nerd, so retro movies and yacht rock are the background of my day-to-day (seriously, my Spotify Wrapped has yet to include an artist who topped the charts after 1987). I also have a slight obsession collecting vintage clothing, but that’s a story for another time!
What advice do you have for young writers?
There are two pieces of advice that I can offer based on my experience. First, if you’re an aspiring young writer, your #1 job is simply to write! Poetry, short stories, novels, flash fiction, fan fiction … the best way to hone your writing skills is to write as much as you can, about any topic that interests you. The right time to get into a good writing habit is right now. Second, find someone whose opinion you respect, who will review your work and take the time to discuss it with you. For me, it was a series of English teachers in middle school and high school. The fact that they took me seriously and were willing to take the time to help me be better quite literally changed my life. Find those people, and be brave enough to ask them to help you!
Who are some of your favorite authors?
Yikes, how long can the list be? A few of my current favorites include Lucy Foley, Taylor Jenkins Reid, Daniel Mason, Isabel Allende, Geraldine Brooks, Haruki Murakami, and Erik Larson. My “Favorite Author of All Time” award likely goes to Gabriel García Márquez, but there are still so many authors yet to discover!
